What happens when my child loses his/her I-Card?

They should go to or call the I-Card Office located in the Hadley Union Building. The phone number is 724-357-1314. They can check to see if their card has been turned in.

The current replacement fee for a lost card is $15.

Current cards that are damaged are replaced at no charge to the student.

If a student brings in a damaged card that is not current, they will be charged the $15 replacement fee.

Meal plans and residence hall access take one hour to work after a card is replaced.

We do not replace cards over the telephone. Students must come in and sign a form to have a card replaced.

What is the smart chip?

The smart chip is a computer chip located on the front of the I-Card. It stores value up to $99 for:

Printing

Copying

Vending machines

Laundry in the residence halls

Library Fines

Small purchases at the Co-op Store

Paying parking fines

PLEASE NOTE: The smart chip is not PIN protected. If the card is lost, so is any value stored in the chip. We cannot replace chip money on lost cards.

Where can value be added to the smart chip?

         Most residence halls

         Library

         HUB

         Eberly

         Keith

         Folger Food Court

Can I send a check to IUP to be added to my child’s smart chip?

         No.

Checks must be made out directly to the student, who will then cash the check and add the cash directly to their I-Card via one of several cash to card machines located across campus.

What are FLEX dollars? Where are they used? How to purchase more?

FLEX is money that is used for meals, but is not a meal plan. It’s basically like paying cash, but you have it on the I-Card, so there’s no need for money!

FLEX can be used at all campus dining locations.

FLEX cannot be used in vending machines.

It is purchased at Accounts Receivable in Clark Hall. The phone number is 724-357-2207.

PLEASE NOTE: FLEX can also be used in conjunction with a meal plan. If a student is dining at a cash equivalency site, the cost of the meal not covered by the meal plan can be picked up by using FLEX.

My child’s I-Card does not work in the door to the residence hall. What should they do?

The student should contact the I-Card Office in the HUB. The number is 724-357-1314. They will be asked their banner number, and their card number (both are printed on their I-Card).

If the numbers match, and the student is getting red/green flashing lights, they will need to speak to their hall office in order to have their card registered for the building.

If the card number matches, but the reader on the building doesn’t give any lights, the student MUST come to the I-Card Office to get a new I-Card.

If the numbers on the student’s card do not match what the I-Card system has (they may be using a card that isn’t current), the student must come to the I-Card Office to get a new card. They will be charged $15 to replace their card.

The meal plan is showing as not registered. What should they do?

Students should contact the Meal Card Office in Foster Dining Hall for meal plan problems. They can be reached at 724-357-2347.

The smart chip has fallen out / the card has broken, is there a charge?

If the damaged card is the student’s current card, there is not a charge, but the student MUST bring the damaged card to the I-Card Office for replacement.

Cards that have had holes punched in them will be charged the $15 replacement fee.

My son/daughter doesn’t have any money. How can they eat / get into their building?

Temporary dining cards can be obtained at the Meal Card Office in Foster Dining Hall.

Temporary building access cards can be obtained at the student’s residence hall office.

Do students need a new card every semester?

No. Students keep their I-Cards for the entirety of their IUP career. I-Cards are updated as student records are updated in Accounts Receivable at the beginning of each semester.

What about the ATM feature?

Students who have a checking account with PNC Bank have the option of using their I-Card as an ATM card.

They must visit the PNC Bank branch in the HUB to have their I-Card pinned for use as an ATM card.
