The Internal Affairs committee of the Student Government Association works to address  problems that occur within the University, whether in a social, academic, athletic, residential, or other area that affects student life. This committee is tasked with the promotion of higher levels of education, and diversity on campus. It strives to improve the quality of student life on campus.

External Affairs

The External Affairs committee of the Student Government Association works to advocate for IUP on local, statewide, and national issues. It also acts as a liaison between the IUP students and the greater town, local, and state communities, maintains relationships with the other PASSHE Student Governments and manages interactions with all parties outside of the university.

Public Relations

The Public Relations committee of the Student Government Association is responsible for the SGA’s public profile, and the other important information. This can range from news about IUP, to upcoming events on campus, elections, SGA meeting minutes and times, SGA events and programs and more. The Public Relations Committee is also responsible for recruitment of new members and is typically the branch of the SGA that is responsible for initial contact with students who have comments, concerns, or questions.

Rules Committee

The Rules Committee of the Student Government Association ensures that the principles and responsibilities listed in the SGA Constitution and Bylaws are upheld. This committee advises the leadership of SGA on the decisions they make during their term. It also manages SGA policies and administers suspensions and expulsions from SGA. They also are responsible for the recognition and regulation of all campus wide undergraduate elections, referendums, and student organizations.

Recruitment

RECRUITMENT: Shall be in charge of recruiting new members for SGA. Shall be in charge of all functions that seek to draw student membership into SGA and work with the PUBLIC RELATIONS committee to publicize these events. Shall hold at least one recruitment event per semester. Shall be represented on the Executive Board by the Chairperson of the committee.
