Hello everyone! It was nice to meet all who attended the SGA meeting on
Monday (9/8/08)! Here are the minutes from the first meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 8:15pm

A list of the fall meeting dates were passed out to all members along with the meeting agenda and contact information of the executive board. Roll was called to see all past members who were present.

Jessica Carson, the President of SGA for the academic year 2008-2009 introduced herself and gave a report to all members.

a) There is a new Chancellor of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (John C. Cavanaugh) who is due to come to IUP on October 8th and 9th. There will be an ice cream social with the President
b) Dr. Atwater took the advice of student leaders and is planning an open forum with the President before the six o’clock series approximately twice a month. Dates are still tentative
c) IUP Senate meetings are today September 9th at 3:30pm, October 7th at 3:30 pm, November 4th at 3:30 pm, and December 2nd at 3:30 pm in Stouffer Auditorium (Beard Auditorium). The spring dates will be announced later in the year.
d) There is a leadership conference at UPG. This will be discussed in more detail at our next meeting on September 22.

There are several student leadership position vacancies

a) Senate Vice-Chair position is vacant. The vote was cast to elect the Senate vice-chair at the Senate meeting today.
b) Four member seats in Operations Committee and two seats for alternates
c) Four member seats in Co-op Store Committee
d) The Human Resources Committee
e) Chairperson of the PR committee
f) Legal Services Committee
g) Elections Committee Chair

Joshua Moss, the Vice President of SGA for the academic year 2008-2009 introduced himself and gave a report to all members.

a) The Vice President keeps track of office hours. Please send an email once a week to Josh telling him what you did for your office hours that week.
b) If you have any questions, feel free to email Josh.

Ray Edwards, the Rules Committee Chair for the academic year 2008-2009 introduced himself and gave a report to all members.

a) All members should feel free make suggestions to Ray about the SGA constitution as well as other constitutions

Mike Stutzman, the Treasurer of SGA for the academic year 2008-2009 introduced himself and gave a report to all members.

a) We have spent approximately $300 this summer. The SGA budget is currently just shy of $13,000.

Sarah Hogue, The Secretary of SGA for the academic year 2008-2009 introduced herself and gave a report to all members.

a) The minutes for each meeting will be taken and sent out to all members within 24 hours of the meeting.

Chad Buckwalter introduced himself and gave the Student Trustees Report.

a) There will be a meeting about the selection of the trustee in Gorell Recital Hall at 1:30 pm on Friday, September 19th.

Just a reminder that there will be a September 11th Memorial in front of Sutton Hall at 8:30 am.
